Artists / writers who I most admire

Image
I aspire to be a great artist / writer and these are my guiding lights: 1. Fred Perry - This guy has been writing and drawing his own series for years and years. He's developed a unique style and only gets better with time. His coloring and compositions are sublime. And he's developing his own video games in his style. 2. Alejandro Jodorowsky - Writer, director, comic book writer, philosopher / spiritualists, psycho-magic therapist. He's done it all, and all while maintaining his voice and humanity. His work is artistic, transcendent, humorous and unexpected.

Quite a beautiful movie and weird as surreal. The pacing and production was better. Felt more engaging than El Topo, but definitely has that Jodorowsky sensibility. Perhaps his take on horror movies?

I really appreciate this movie. It's cool seeing Jodorowsky apply his sensibility to the western genre. It's got his funky characters, "not-normal" characters, sex, violence, nudity, spirituality. I saw Dance of Reality and it shares many similarities in it. I particularly like, how the main character develops and changes so much through the course of the film. It's like the whole scenario shifts. I'm currently working on a Western comic and El Topo has really inspired me to apply my own artistic and personal style to the project.

Somehow, I've found myself again and am ready to start making art again. Actually, I know what I've been doing... I've been trying to be commercially viable. I worked as a graphic artist and had ambitions of being an art director. I learned how to make video games and thought I'd make a go of it as an indie game developer. I studied business and am working towards an Associate degree. I got my Master's degree in illustration. Thought I could make a living as an illustrator. I tried to make it as a DJ / producer. I'm currently focusing on making comics. It feels a little forced to me though. Not that I don't love making comics, but I truly feel it is only a part of who I am, who I want to be. I've been reflecting on how I want to live. And how that
