I'm still processing the insights from Bourdieu's "Theory of Cultural Production," but it has already profoundly changed how I view art, the art worlds and myself as an artist. For starters, I'm consolidating all my cultural production activities under one umbrella and seeing them all as part of my artistic identity rather than as separate identities, brands, companies etc. Really, it's just little ol' me. I don't have any employees or shares or sales even to speak of. What game was I trying to play before? I've used a lot of aliases, like superheros, musicians, gamers and some artists have. But Art is about the Artist. The person, as Artist, as Art. But not the person as artifice. I think Artists are genuinely themselves; it just so happens that they are so different from others that it appears like artifice. And when an artist becomes a cultural product themselves, that identity goes through the flattening process of marketing. That is not
