CAPM asserts that the expected return on a given asset should be equal to the risk -free interest rate plus a risk premium. Sharpe ratio measures the amount of "excess return per unit of volatility" provided by a fund. Excess return of the fund divided its volatility. Jensen Alpha is defined as the difference between the realized return and the return predicted by the CAPM. Treynor ratio conceptually, the generalized Treynor ratio is the abnormal return of a portfolio per unit of weighted-average systematic risk. -notes from Handbook of Hedge Funds by Francois-Serge Lhabitant, formula graphics are original
Invest in yourself

You could be putting your savings into "investing" in yourself, like education or personal growth. Conceptually, when you buy stocks you are buying part of a company and your money grows based on the growth of that company. So, your savings account is like having shares in yourself. And if you invest in yourself and you get a better job, earning more money, you have essentially grown your own account. That being said, spending money on financial education is not a bad idea.

psychological cycle of winning and losing in the stock market

Pre-winning: waiting for the proper opportunity. I don't see anything, but am staying alert. In a winning trade: laser focused, looking for a good entry, good exit, confirmation, willing and ready to cut losses early if the trade seems not to be working or the market psychology has changed. Post winning trade: relief, celebration. Post winning trade, overconfidence, overly cavalier attitude: "Now, I'm ahead of the game, playing with house money." I can take more risky, less researched and vetted positions. Also, jeez, I coulda made more on my win. Can't resist the urge to get back in, even though there isn't an edge or a good trade. Beginning of a losing trade: Doesn't properly assess risk / reward. Takes a position based on previous / wrong edge. Losing position moves against me: I'll add to my position, to average down my position. After all, I'm playing with house money. Also, I hate to lose and don't want to take a loss after my good win. ...

politically neutral, but cognizant of the politics of the market eg. whether you are a democrat or a republican, the current market is driven by GOP play the game, follow the crowd while not being a true believer in the crowd's beliefs, especially when your perspective is contrary to the crowd. eg. the market is rallying, while the economy is suffering. go with the market rally, but don't believe the hype. as opposed to trying to fight the market, go with the momentum, while maintaining your contrarian views, and when the turn comes, it will be easy to shift mindset

from Can Super Smart Leaders Suffer From Too Much of a Good Thing? The Curvilinear Effect of Intelligence on Perceived Leadership Behavior the optimal IQ for perceived leadership will appear at about 1.2 standard deviations above the mean IQ of the group membership. analyses indicated that perceptions of leadership followed a curvilinear inverted-U function of intelligence. The peak of this function was at an IQ score of about 120 Individuals who are too intelligent vis-Ã -vis the group they lead may limit how effective they could be. The leaders may be limited because they: (a) present “more sophisticated solutions to problems [which] may be much more difficult to understand” (Simonton, 1985, p. 536); (b) use “complex forms of verbal communication [and] expressive sophistication [that] may also undermine influence” (Simonton, 1985, p. 536); and (c) come across as too “cerebral” making them less prototypical of the group (cf. Hogg, 2001). This latter point is import...

my thoughts on the future of Vainglory
- Get link

my reply to this video: I think they should just reboot Vainglory, instead of going the CE route. Strip out a lot of the extra stuff (for example chat - most people can use an app for that), drop the PC version, go back to 3v3, making it easier and cheaper for their servers (and improving matchmaking times). Cut out all the extra game modes. Get back to the core of what made VG so special and fun: the touch controls, 3v3, great characters, cool skins, streamlined game play, ranks, the best MOBA (if not one of the best) games for mobile. Let the community develop the esports scene, with some guidance by SEMC. If they want to have bigger tournaments, let the players fund it like DoTA does, which incidentally increases revenues for SEMC. I personally stopped playing a little before 5v5 was introduced and only tried 5v5 a few times, which totally turned me off and I hated the control stick scheme. Also, It seemed like it was trying to be too much like LoL (like map and objectives) and...
